The body outrage growing Spine!

Ever since the current authoritarian and increasingly violent MAGA fuelled GOP administration rose to power in America, there has rightly been societal indignation and condemnation across the USA, but also from the wider world. I for one am thankfull for that and see any pushback that continues as a sign that we haven’t lost our humanity after all. But, until now, any sign of a bi-partisan rebuttal in the USA has been mostly insignificant. If I’m being totally honest, I won’t hold my breath whilst I wait to witness the materialisation of any such possibility come to fruition.

Despite all the daily evidence could suggest an exponential growth of push-backs, meaningful challenge still apears to be lacking. Additionally, most checks and balances, that once allowed legislators to reign-in outrageous or dangerous behaviours – of any administration – are long gone. Anything that remains is now mostly ineffectual. The guardrails have intentionally and expediently been suppressed by the regime, ever since the beginning of this 47th presidency in 2025. All of them rendered impotent – by instilling fears about the consequences for any displays of regime disloyalty. Simply put, they have been annihilated. So where does this leave America now? And perhaps more importantly, where do Americans – and the rest of the world – go from here?

Every new day we are witnessing new incidents and events throughout America, and partly as a consequence the world, that leave most human beings totally aghast and consumed by their inherent outrage. Yet the American regime continues to instruct its people that they should never believe their lying eyes and ears – “it’s all fake news” – which is part of their “Groupthink” promotion strategy. The regime is expectedly refusing to allow any dissent which might challenge or slow the total implementation of their dystopian ideology. And they are doing this by invoking ever increasing levels of fear throughout the populus.

America might not be 1930s Germany, but the similarities and parallels with European history can’t be ignored. It might have started by taking federal actions to “protect citizens from violent undocumented criminal immigrants” but that was political rhetoric to feed a purpose. We have now seen how quickly this has all morphed into profound displays of bigotry and racism; targeting anyone and everyone from any marginalised minority group within America. Regardless of their citizenship status and especially when they’re not male, white or straight.

That is disgusting by any reasonable and accepted standards but in America – the so-called “Land of The Free” – it’s perhaps even more of an abomination in the eyes of many. We are now witnessing state supported sectarian violence delivered with impunity. There is daily suppression of crushed human rights and the sickening ascendence of thuggish and violent white supremacy from the Government. Things not seen since before outing the KKK in America, the demise of fascism in Europe, and prior to the toppling of Apartheid in South Africa. This is both shameful and frightening for ever so many people, and not just those who are being targeted by the American regime.

Most people now, whilst remaining fearful, are also resigned to the fact of a probable reality; we have long passed a moment for inanely talking about the problems that Americans currently endure. And there is no longer any value to be gained from discourse; with any individual – or regime stooge, promoting, supporting or maintaining any of this hateful and socially harmful ideology.

The administration has constantly and consistently refused to listen to anyone. Let alone ever consider new concerns or opinions from its own people. Even that minority within the MAGA faithful, now belatedly viewing things differently, are ignored and ostracised by by their own cabal of sycophantic self-interest topping their administration. Although those individuals might have arrived ‘late to the party’ they shouldn’t be totally eviscerated by the rest of us. They too were victims of contrived and deceitful ‘brainwashing’, rendering them incapable of developing any semblance of their own opinions, until now. As that cohort wakes to fully-understand the uncomfortable nasty impacts of voting for this regime, their realisation deserves to be nurtured and they should be supported to develop those new thoughts and feelings. But none of this suggests that we should fall silent silent – job done – and stop talking about it. Because if the people who have/can change tack don’t get support, from their peers, the media and any subsequent government in the future, history will undoubtedly be stuck in a rinse & repeat cycle.

So yes, all the adequate and productive words might have been exhausted, and with many people and it’s looking increasingly more likely that positive action will likely ensue. Hopefully before American citizens witness any more erosion of their freedoms. Those rights that were once recognised as human expectations. But now, we’ve reached a point that is beyond past understanding and possibly, beyond meaningful repair. Always assuming that America hasn’t already fallen fatally from a societal precipice. Be under no misaprehention, none of these assumptions are political rhetoric or hyperbole.

But I’m not calling for any violent insurrection – as evidenced by the past actions of this regime’s executive – and I’m not suggesting that violence, against any part of that regime, is appropriate, or should even be supported in any way. Far from it.

What I am however suggesting is that all current non-violent pushbacks should be loudly applauded and fully supported. By all, and far more vociferously than they often appear to be at this present time. This is problematic, when large proportions of the media machine is controlled by the regime. Either in right-wing political pockets, or fearful of financial impacts if they show any sympathy towards dissent. Regardless of the suffocating grip republicans have around the necks of most Capital Hill representatives, the house can do more. The time for partisan loyalties has long gone. The silence, displayed by most on the political right of Congress is failing the American people. It has fuelled an inferno of self-interest, which is now consuming almost all past rights of American citizens, and creating something of a geopolitical Armageddon moment.

If ever there was a need for concerted and robustly undivided bi-partisan response, that time is definitely now. Because what was (perhaps) something that was born in political differences of the past, is now a frightening shitstorm of monumental proportions. And the vast majority of right-minded people want to escape from it.

If the political and economic leadership (and the people) of America – a once revered and mostly respected nation – can’t unite to remove their carbuncle of narcissism, propped up by a dangerous fascist, power-hungry, and now violent regime of self-interest from the world stage, we’re all fucked… and for a very long time.

As many people belatedly but increasingly echo the words of Gavin Newsom, we all need to keep shouting at those who are still sleeping… For Fuck Sake People, Wake Up, and Grow some Spine!
