Today Facebook and Twitter have been boiling with comments about Remembrance Day (Veterans Day in the USA). This is a day where we should remember our fallen men and women, those who have died in service of their nation. It is also a reminder to us all about the ultimate futility of war, whilst never forgetting the terrible cost in human lives.
It was therefore sickening that the day was partly over shadowed by a small group (approx 35) of radical followers of Islam, people who chose to desecrate the day in misguided pursuit of their extremist aims and views. It was also hardly surprising that many of the subsequent comments appearing in the social media forums were somewhat heated.
All this supposedly in the name of religious belief however; the views expressed are little more than ignorant, offensive, disrespectful and simply incitement to racial hatred. The exact same traits we in the Western world are being accused of by these radicalized fundamentalist idiots.

It is thought the group were part of Muslims Against Crusades, believed to be a splinter group of the now banned Islam4UK. The proscribed group was founded by Anjem Choudary, a British Muslim extremist formerly a senior figure in Al-Muhajiroun and the Islam4UK group.
The actions of these small minorities actually fuels intolerance, they increase the phobia about Islam in the West. They increase levels of misunderstanding in the moderate and tolerant and they bolster the hatred displayed by the far right extremist groups. Apart from the futility of it all, I find it increasingly hard to stomach how we let these morons spread their poisonous rhetoric, whilst arresting and prosecuting anyone who shows the slightest bent towards being in the least anti islamic.
Incitement to racial or ethnic hatred is a crime under the laws of many Western nations however; we still allow these radical extremists to have their views because in the main, we are a tolerant and civilised society. One that, despite our imperialism and wrongs of the past, actually believe in human rights, freedom of choice and freedom of expression. Unlike these muppets that seek to indoctrinate anyone and everyone into what they believe is right, irrespective of what means are required to achieve their aims.
How can it be right that we subject an individual to the full weight of anti-racism legislation for calling someone a name, yet we allow these morons to incite racial hatred against us? Dual standards yes but who or what prevents us from using the same laws against the radical extremists?

It is ironic that such groups can peddle their offensive views BECAUSE so many have fallen in the defence of the right to state their views.
My understanding is that being a Muslim comes before any nationality so referring to misguided (usually poorly academically empowered individuals, but not always) people who put religion before any form of logic or reason as British Muslims is something of an oxymoron.
Presumably their offensive behaviour will be dealt with as some form of racially/religiously based public order offence, if not dealt with as such it will undoubtedly become a beacon to the less cerebrally endowed ‘indigenous’ ranters.
I would imagine the majority of Muslims living their lives in this country wanting the best for their kids, and trying to earn a living must be sat with their head in heir hands at yet another slur
