Today the BBC report it is better to call a patient ‘fat’ than obese?
GPs and other health professionals should tell people they are fat rather than obese, England’s public health minister says. (BBC News)
Howls of disgust were immediately offered up… “You can’t say someone is fat, that’s totally outrageous, you might traumatise them for life”!
Apart from any psychological outcome, the fact of the matter is, the waistline of the UK population is ballooning at an alarming rate. If people don’t wake up and make adjustments to their eating habits and sedentary lifestyles they will put on weight.
Don’t you think people ‘suffer’ more personality disorders and confidence issues these days because we try to protect everyone from everything that ‘might’ upset them? In many ways we’ve turned into a nation of snivelling wimps who cry every time some one says boo! Don’t kids get the parental advice “Sticks & Stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me” when they come home wailing; “Johnny called me a Fat Knacker mum”, as they tuck into their double Big Mac & large fries to console themselves!
Being over weight very rarely has a medical or hereditary cause… It’s because you eat shit convenience food and you’re a lazy arse… Trust me, I’m an expert 🙂
